A Grumpy-Sunshine Small Town Romance

Garret Mutter is broody, grumpy, and always scowls. By all accounts, I’d say he hates me. But there’s a fire burning deep in his eyes every time he looks at me that makes me shudder with desire.

Five reasons my life imploded:

✔️Boyfriend of seven years rejected my marriage proposal.

✔️Publically humiliated and disgraced by said boyfriend.

✔️Unemployed.

✔️Moved back home to live with parents at age thirty.

✔️Forced to deal with the loss I’ve been running from for over ten years.

I haven’t seen Garret since high school, and I hate that I’m not at my best—not even close. I’m sure he remembers me as the always-perfectly-put-together beauty queen. Not the frizzy head, make-up free, failure that I am today.

But he’s even hotter than he was in high school.

So. Not. Fair.

Tall, grumpy, bearded, growly, with a thick wall of solid muscle—that’s Garret Mutter.

And from the way he’s glaring at me, I can’t tell if he hates me or wants to kiss me.

Thankfully, he doesn’t make me wonder for long.

The growing attraction between us ignites, and I soon learn that there’s so much more to Garret than the grumpy-bear scowl he hides behind.

Garret has a secret, and it just might destroy my family.

We made a choice to be together. And now we must face the consequences—Garret more than me—as we each deal with the hard truths of our pasts.

Our invisible scars run deep and threaten to stand in our way.

And I’m not convinced we’ll be able to overcome them to build a future together.

Author’s Note: This is Garret and Charlotte’s story. A grumpy-sunshine, opposites attract, girl next door, small-town romance between a disgraced former beauty queen determined to get her life back and a hot alpha mechanic who’d rather be left alone than deal with the painful realities of his past.

Charlotte, a well known hair stylist to the stars in Chicago proposes to her boyfriend of 8 years. When her very public breakup happens she flees to her small hometown in Ohio.

A book about heartache, dementia, secrets and swoon worthy romance. Aria’s stories are always filled with so much emotion, passion and such loveable characters. I never want the stories to end and once they do, I’m jumping into another one of her books as soon as possible. This one will be very hard to forget, I loved it. A must read.

Oh boy, if I thought I loved Mac and Sophia from book 1 I was not prepared for Garret Mutter. That man is something else... if you love a book with strong alpha / good girl vibes then this is for you! Garret and Charlotte were an absolute dream together and the tension was incredible. Be prepared for some spicy scenes 🔥🔥

As with the first book, make sure you read the Author's note at the front of the book that lists the trigger warnings. The characters are dealing with significant trauma and this is evidenced by their actions and emotions throughout. I think the Author did a brilliant job at balancing this with the developing relationship and by the end I was so invested in Garret and Charlotte as individuals getting their power back, then finding love together.

Thank you to Author Aria Bliss and BookSirens for providing me with a copy of this ARC. All opinions shared within this review are my own.

Small town Romance- Sexy, Funny, Romantic

This book is filled with sexy men, beautiful second chances and a perfect grumpy-sunshine small town romance that will leave you crying happy tears and believing in true love!

You are going to fall in love with Garret and Charlotte. They are the perfect pair even though they are very opposite of each other but you know what they say about opposite attract and that statement can’t be more true then for these two amazing characters.

Charlotte has returned home after a horribly public break up with her boyfriend and she is ashamed and a bit broken when she moves back home. However, her niece Rayne is giving her a new purpose and she wants to reconnect with her and be a better Aunt! Rayne lost her mom and her one true friend is Garret Mutter who lives next door and has taken her under his wing after her mom died. She loves everything about Garret and she is the only one who make the mostly grumpy man smile! Charlotte grew up next to the Mutter’s but seeing Garret has given her a new sense of pleasure and confidence that she may not always be alone. He is grumpy that’s for sure but she is determined to make him smile and she tries countless times to get him to break down his walls and let her in. Their story is beautiful and empowering. Both of these characters are easy to love and cheer on. However, Garret has a secret and he’s unsure what could happen to him and Charlotte once it’s revealed. He doesn’t want to lose her but he doesn’t feel like he deserves her either. This is a wild and exciting ride and when all is revealed it’s quite a mind trip. You will devour every page of this amazing book and I can’t wait to read about the next Mutter brother. Happy Reading!!

Dealing With the Past . . .

Garret Mutter and Charlotte Weber are really good together despite being totally opposite personalities. Charlotte has returned home after a public break-up and humiliation by her ex-boyfriend Brad gives her no other option.

Although Garret is the grumpy one, it becomes a challenge to Charlotte to cause him to smile. They knew each other in high school, and their attraction to each other becomes obvious. They both have things from the past to deal with, but can they move beyond those things? When they attended the school’s Spring Fundraiser, Garret attended as well, despite the fact he hated crowds. Then the worst happened – Charlotte’s ex, who had humiliated her so badly, stepped up to her and told her he wanted her to come back to him. While she was in shock, he took her hand and put a diamond ring on it! Garret was furious and claimed that Brad could not marry her because Charlotte was his. And that unfortunately caused Rayne, her niece, to reveal a shocking secret. And this is one that Charlotte may not get over. Will she go back to Brad? Or will she publicly refuse him as he had done to her? And will she talk to Garret and figure out whether they can ever be together? Or will she choose to be alone.

A small town second chance romance. He’s a grump and she’s home to help her family; dad has dementia and declining and mom needs help coping as well as raising ten year old niece. He’s grumpy with secrets and a chip on his shoulder. There’s plenty of secrets being kept ..secret “accidental meetings” hookups and who could be her niece’s father. Can they get over their secrets and their individual guilts and allow themselves to love? *I was given an advanced reader copy via BookSirens and am voluntarily giving my honest review.

Great smalltown romance story. The grumpy lead, Garrett, and Charlotte was sweet. The humor between the two characters added to their story.

My dad also suffered from dementia. This part of the story really hit home with me and I appreciated the truth of this disease in the story.

I thought this story was a little Spicer than the first book in the series and I'm always down for that.

When I know I'll be leaving a review, I take notes of my thoughts throughout. My 2nd note is a correct guess about the plot twist of this book (the 1st is me being confused that the FMC says Chicago has the best ever shopping). Those are followed by my annoyance at the "literal sparks at initial touch" trope and further confusion that she says Ohio is in the tri state area? Upon research there is a "Cincinnati tri state area" but that was so aggressively not on my radar.
Anyway, to be frank, this book had some high highs and low lows for me. The whole ooooo he's not ~good~ enough for her thing is overplayed in my opinion, there is a strange lack of lists for most of the book when apparently lists are her thing, there are some HUGE similarities to the other book by this author that I read, and his nickname for her is way cuter than her nickname for him. ALSO (and this next sentence is a spoiler so skip to the next paragraph if you want to miss that), it is so off the wall that the literal last person he had sex with YEARS ago was this chicks dead sister.........like what?!
There were some very sweet moments- the cooking together scene was great (and I appreciate that she wrote he washed his hands post foot rub and pre handling food). I wish there were more moments like that to go along with the sex. I like those scenes too, but it would have been nice to see that relationship progress. Rayne was a very solid character as well. When Garret said "my 2 favorite girls"...love.
This book wasn't my favorite, but as a standalone it is a decent read (and I'm aware that I'm picky), so 3 stars.

Well written but just didnt love it. I found Charlotte so ‘woe is me’ and not really relatable. Though i will say i did love Rayne. And i did see the big secret coming and was a bitter pill to swallow.

I am glad i read it and will recommend to people that are not into the basic romcom romance but this book will not be on my reread list.

Loved this Mutter brother more than I love expected.

Oh, Garret. What a grumpy tortured soul. He is the youngest of his siblings that share a mother, as she died after giving birth to him. She opted to continue her pregnancy instead of trying to beat the cancer that ultimately took her life, and as a result his father was heartbroken and essentially ruined all of his son’s lives. But none more then Garret’s. Poor Garret spent his entire life feeling guilt for something that was not his fault, and feeling the hatred of a father that could not forgive him for existing. He’s avoided just about everyone over the last ten years, except for sweet little Rayne.

Charlotte was a former beauty queen who left their small town for Chicago after high school graduation and had her dream job and life… until her boyfriend chose the moment she proposed to him to publicly humiliate her by sharing that he was cheating on her with one of her clients. And costing her that dream job. Between that and her father‘s decline with dementia, she finds herself back at home with her tail between her legs. And somehow drawn to the man that smiles for her niece Rayne, but never for her.

I have to admit, I saw the conflict coming. And it gave me an ick feeling that almost made me stop reading. I really considered it, but kept going because the writing kept me pulled in and invested. But it was hard. I’ve read some questionable subject matter that is far worse on the taboo scale, so that really wasn’t it, but I think the secrecy and this being more emotional than just smutty made it hit differently. I want to clarify- it wasn’t the taboo part that made me hesitant to continue. It was more the emotional response and what I knew it was going to mean for both of them. Particularly Garret, who already had so much pain in his life. But by the end, I felt completely glad I continued. And it wasn’t icky. A painful hiccup for sure, but I was ok with it. There was such an emotional journey for Charlotte and Garret, and even little Rayne, and I’m glad I got to go along for the ride. Prepare to hold on for a bumpy ride. There’s a lot of steam, but also a lot of emotional chaos. And it’s worth it.

Grumpy, protective and big-hearted hero meets a woman who he wants to claim as his. Unfortunately, Garrett has a secret that he thinks makes him him not worthy of love. Charlotte is back in her town and living with her parents after her life imploded. She also just discovered her father has dementia and her mom needs help caring for him and her niece. Charlotte’s self-worth has taken a hard hit and her multitude of lists only serve to highlight her troubles which adds to her stress. Garrett is her neighbour who has taken her motherless niece under his wing. It is hard to resist a man who lights up when her niece is around and treats her like a revered friend. The fact that he grumbles and scowls around her is a bit of a disappointment since his physical attributes get her all revved up. She has no idea that his attitude is hiding his fierce attraction to her. He is determined to keep his distance from her.

They both have a lot of emotional baggage, self-doubt and other issues to overcome, but they are inextricably drawn to each other. Family dynamics and relationships figure heavily into their story and add to their woes, as do the nosy and rather gossip driven citizens of their small town. Everybody is waiting for her to leave town again, even after Charlotte tells them she is there to stay. After a very rough start, they finally start to make headway in a relationship of their own. Things get very hot, very naughty and both want more, even though they know they shouldn’t. Advance, retreat and repeat. Will they be able to let go of all the baggage and doubts to grab a happily ever after for themselves?.

Charlotte has to move back home, to her parents, that still live in the small town she grew up in, after losing her job and fiancé in Chicago.

Garret Mutter likes to live in solitude and repair things. He grew up with 6 brothers and his dad and grandmother. When he sees Charlotte, he’s always so grumpy. He’s got secrets. And the h0ts for Charlotte.

Charlotte lost her sister Carol 10 years ago, when she gave birth to Rayne. She doesn’t know who the father is. Rayne grew up with her grandparents, but now that Charlottes dad has been diagnosed with dementia, it’s been hard on the 10 year old.

Lots of secrets. One of them kind of being what Garret likes in the bedroom. But that’s all we get. Even as the reader, we’re not entirely privy to his inner meandering. He stays closed off throughout the book and doesn’t really open up to Charlotte. Months pass and he still hasn’t mentioned why he likes his solitude, what happened to his mother, his love life, and so on.

I was waiting for that one secret bombshell to drop and ruin lives. It was awkward and to be honest Charlotte had an issue with it for two weeks and then boom! Oh not so bad actually. Her mother changed within her mind within a few days.

I think I’d be mad that the person I was with, whom I’d asked several times, how he knew my sister, just didn’t come out with the truth right away and let me believe for months (!!!) that everything was peachy, when indeed was not, while falling in love. She just came out a 7 year relationship, dumped publicly and was cheated on for two years.

In the end it was all just really awkward and I skimmed the last 8%.

Heartwarming story with complex characters.
There’s a lot to unpack in this heartwarming story about Charlotte; as she heads home to small town life to help her mother with her father's deteriorating health condition, but at a time when her life in Chicago had imploded spectacularly losing a high profile job she loved along with her cheating ex; and Garrett, one of seven Mutter brothers, he’d be the grumpy, broken, loner, living with a lifetime of guilt as he works as the town’s handyman and returns home each day to his dog and his tiny house. He is also keeping a secret, one that has major consequences when it comes to light, as you just know it will!
The growing relationship between Charlotte and Garret is complicated and complex with family dynamics and a whole town ready to gossip, but they have off the charts chemistry which leads to Ms. Bliss writing some steaming hot sex scenes. But a physical relationship is maybe where they started but it’s not where this relationship is heading.
The scenes written around Charlotte’s father’s condition are heartbreaking to read and these are balanced in the story by the joy you will get reading of the relationship Garret and Rayne, Charlotte’s niece, have.
These are all great, complex characters that I enjoyed reading about and wanted to see the best happen for them. I was engrossed in the story through to the end wanting to know how everything would turn out.

Garret and Charlotte are on fire!

What a tremendous story! So much depth, so much angst, so much all-encompassing passion!

I was instantly drawn into this story, and appreciated the way the author introduces the entire Mutter family and how their history informs the men they have grown up to be. I loved Garret's relationship with Rayne and what that meant to Charlotte.

Garret and Char have so much chemistry it was inevitable that their romance would be explosive, and their brat/tamer dynamic was like icing on the cake. I loved every single minute of their story and their HEA was perfect.

I loved how their history was gradually revealed throughout the book. The chapter titles were just teasing enough about how their relationship was progressing, which was a nice touch. The author cleverly made direct references to a few standard romance book tropes, rather than simply allude to them, and this "calling out" made these tropes almost like an inside joke.

I was hooked on the Mutter Brothers from the first book, and this one only cemented my affection for them more. This is shaping up to be a stellar series, and I am anxiously awaiting the rest of the stories to come. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This is the 2nd book in the Mutter Brothers series featuring the sexy opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine small town romance between Garret and Charlotte. Charlotte is a former pageant queen who grew up next-door to the Mutters she even had a crush on Garret in high school. She was full of alot of hopes and career dreams when she moved to Chicago those dreams all come crashing down when her boyfriend publicly humiliated her which causes her to move back home. When she gets home she finds her niece Rayne who she really wants to get to know again so that she can be a better aunt to her especially since her mom died. Garret is a surly guy who prefers to keep to himself the only exception is Rayne he's fond of Charlotte's niece. When Charlotte's car breaks down it's Garret who comes to her rescue and they become a lot friendlier with each other then they were before he helped her. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this sexy opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine small town romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

What a wonderful story of grumpiness, secrets, small town life and love, so much love! Charlotte has come home to her parents after a really bad break up with the man she thought was hers forever. She hasn't been home in 10 years, she left when her sister passed away giving birth to Charlotte's niece Rayne.

She is looking forward to spending as much time as she can with her family and especially her father who has dementia. Living next door to her is Garret Mutter a grump who keeps to himself as much as he can with the exception of Rayne who he loves spending time with as much as Rayne loves to spend time with him! Garret and Charlotte are poles apart but there is a very strong attraction between them. As their relationship heats up (and boy does it ever heat up!) Garret is wrestling with a secret he is keeping from Charlotte and his family that he thinks will be too much for her to deal with. This book has so much heart and has an ending that brought tears to my eyes! Garret has several brothers and I am looking forward to hearing all their stories!

Garret is one of the Mutter brothers, but unlike the others, he's a loner and prefers to be on his own even going so far as living in a tiny house away from everyone else. His closest neighbor is the Weber family.

After her disastrous blowup in Chicago, Charlotte Weber moves back in her parent's home. Charlotte had a huge crush on Garret in high-school, but he didn't know her, right? They end up being friendly after her car breaks down and he rescues her and then they are "more than friends" but what are they?

Not only all of that, but Charlotte's blowup from Chicago visits and we didn't even cover her niece, Rayne, from her late sister. There is so much going on, can Charlotte and Garret actually make a go at it or are they doomed from the start.

I loved this book. I saw glimpses of Garret in Mac's book and he did not disappoint. There were twists and turns that I didn't expect which made the book that much richer.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Truck Me by Aria Bliss is a small-town romance. It's the second book from the Mutter Brothers series.

This one is about Garret Mutter, the grumpy isolated brother, and his neighbor, Charlotte Weber.

This story is a serious case of opposites attract. She was a former beauty queen, who loved the lifestyle of the big city. She liked to be stylish and mingle with people. He was a country boy, always grumpy, a man of few words, liked to stay alone and never went out. Their chemistry was undeniable. Sparks flew when they first touched each other. Their romance was for the most part spicy and towards the end sweet and kind of heartbreaking. I loved their little banters, the way she took care of him, and how protective he was. The scenes with Rayne were my favorite, that kid was too smart for her own good.

I enjoyed this book a lot and I highly recommend it. I will rate it with 4 stars.

And there it is universe… another Mutter brother hottie finds his bliss! Two down, only five more of the beautiful broken left.

I absolutely hate spoilers so how about I just recommend this book and let you know that Aria Bliss did an amazing job once again creating a female main character that could nurture a Mutter heart. Ms Bliss also did an awesome job of reminding us/the readers why we love all those boys so much (and wish Gram was apart of our own families.)

I loved the way Aria constructed her characters in this story: how strong Charlotte is, how wise beyond her years Rayne is, how grumpy yet empathetic Garret is (and how freaking steamy/dominating), and how sympathetic and loyal the Mutter family is with Garret.

I can’t wait for Chase’s story…

I received an ARC (thank you Aria) and I am voluntarily leaving this review.

Buy it, rent it, borrow it, just get your hands… or ears… eyes… whatever… on a copy!

Easily read this in two days. Didn’t want to put it down!
This is the second book in the mutter brothers series.
Grumpy/sunshine steamy romance with a little twist.
Charlottes life has been completely flipped because of her ex boyfriend. She’s now back in the small town of Beaver Ohio trying to start over. She’s living with her parents again and helping out with her dad.

Garrett is the grumpy Mutter brother that isn’t too involved in the garage like the rest of them.
He’s been dealing with a lot of guilt and feeling like his dad blames him for his mothers death. I’m so glad that him and his dad were finally able to get that out in the open.

This book was heartbreaking at times but also very happy and uplifting. I loved the banter between these two and how supportive the brothers are with each other. I wasn’t really surprised by the outcome of this story but It was definitely a HEA.

I loved this book but I'm not sure it's one I'd reread either. The ending kind of felt rushed. I'll be honest if someone slept with my sister and never said anything to me while we were building a relationship despite me asking how he knew her, I'd be pretty pissed. It didn't take her long to forgive him, and there was really no discussion between them about what they were gonna do to fix it. They found out the paternity, she had a talk with her best friend, came back from Chicago, and then just said I forgive you. Me personally, the ick I would feel knowing I was with someone my sister had a kid with, I couldn't do it. Especially since he hadn't been with anyone since then. I'd almost feel better if he was a man whore . If that's not something that bothers you then this is a great book It just wasn't for me. (I only wrote reviews for myself so I can keep track of what books I liked and didn't)

Truck Me is book two in the Mutter Brothers series. Each book deals with a different brother, so there can be read as a standalone. I just found the series with this book, but I will go back and read book one, Truck You, while I wait for book three.

Garret is a grumpy guy who stays to himself. He has a soft spot for Charlotte's niece. Charlotte grew up next to the Mutter family. She was a beauty queen with big hopes and expectations. She moved to Chicago but returned to her small town after her relationship and business dreams fell apart. She has a lot on her plate. Her paths cross with Garret; there is a connection there, but he's very closed off. He has layers, and every once in a while, he sees his softness come through. Their story has a lot of emotions and struggles, and I really liked it.
March 31, 2023
Book two in the Matter series is even better than book one. Charlotte returns home embarrassed and questioning herself. While Garret never left and is hiding his own questions.

Garret is the quiet, grumpy brother who has been keeping himself separate from the family for years. Determined to solve life's issues by himself, he has to learn what family really means and how to depend on them for support. Charlotte was the beauty queen with life figured out til it falls apart one night and she runs home to recover. Now these two need to figure out what is important in life and how to deal with the past. Lots of twists and turns to get a happily ever after.

Definitely recommend book series. Each book is a standalone story, but why not follow the characters!! I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This contemporary romance is page-turning with exceptional characters and a world-building that is realistic. Their journey is enthralling with grumpy sunshine, opposites attract, girl next door, small-town romance, between a disgraced former beauty queen determined to get her life back and a hot alpha mechanic who'd rather be left alone than deal with the painful realities of the past, an explicit romance that is consumed by lust, desire, passion, steamy spice with all the feelings romance, family saga, drama, alpha hero, and more. I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author who knows how to captivate her reader's hearts and attention with truck me and a grumpy-sunshine small-town romance that is so explicit it will have readers screaming for more.

Truck Me ~ The Mutter Brothers #2 By Aria Bliss

Author’s Note: This is Garret and Charlotte’s story. A grumpy-sunshine, opposites attract, girl next door, small-town romance between a disgraced former beauty queen determined to get her life back and a hot alpha mechanic who’d rather be left alone than deal with the painful realities of his past.

It's just brilliant! Why?

The characters have hot steamy chemistry, and the storyline, is strong, which has you rooting for Garret and Charlotte and is believable.

The writing- the way Aria writes, draws you the reader into the story from the very first page, in such a way that you believe that you too are there, and you feel like family.

An amazing series that I love and am looking forward to the rest of the series. I highly recommend this book to all.

Once again Aria leaves me wanting more! I truly loved this story, I was so excited to get a HEA for Garrett. Our time with him was brief in TY but I just KNEW I wanted to learn more about him. I knew that he was the way he was for a reason and honestly my heart hurt for him at times. I loved getting to see him face new things and take a chance. I knew that I was going to love Charlotte from the beginning as well. The things she went through hit a little close to home and Aria wrote the emotions so well in my opinion. Its so hard to face the scary things even if they are good for us.

I cannot wait for the next book, this is the second Mutter Brother ARC I've had the pleasure of reading and I am grateful.

Some things may not be triggering to me, however there are some heavy real life things.

Tissue Alert!!! You will cry, you will laugh, you will overwhelmingly enjoy this book! This book is the second in the series following the Mutter family in small town Ohio. Garret is the "grumpy" brother who grew up without a mother and was ignored by his father. Charlotte is his neighbor who set her sights on the big city only to find out that life is better at home. Both have family issues that they need to accept and learn from in order to grow together as a couple. Not always easy to do when the town you live in is a gossip mill. There's a few bumps in the road, but life has a way of working itself out. Family bonds are often stronger than we realize.

I am loving the Mutter brothers! And Garrett, oh my! He is so down on himself, I am thrilled his brothers put him in his place and let him know how much he means to them. This was a complex, intricate story that was so detailed it was hard to remember it is fiction. Charlotte has moved back home to help care for her dad, to find her 10 year old niece has a fondness for the Mutter family, especially Garrett. Charlotte cannot figure out why and cannot ask her niece’s mom because she died giving birth as did Garrett’s mom to him. Charlotte and Garrett have a real connection and their story and the realization of the big secret played out very well! I am excited for the next brother’s HEA!

Grumpy Garret Mutter, the second of the Mutter brothers and how can you not love them. Garret has spent most of his life, unhappy and feeling guilty about his mom dying in childbirth. He feels he doesn't deserve happiness but when Charlotte comes back to Beaver after 10 years in Chicago he sees potential with her. she has come home after her 7 year relationshipmimplodes and she loses everything. Her 10 year old niece Rayne, loves Garret as he does her, and adds so much cuteness to the story. Can Garret and Charlotte get past their brokenness and also secrets… I couldn't put the book down, again Aria spins her magic. I can't wait for the next Mutter!

Garrett’s story was pretty poignant. He’d had some major losses and disappointments so it was easy to understand why he kept to himself and protected his feelings from everyone, including his family, why he took so much guilt on himself though it wasn’t his burden to bear. Charlotte was kind of a coward. Rather than dealing with her feelings after her sister’s death, and sharing that weight with her family, she ran away for 10 YEARS. After the disaster of her broken engagement, she finally comes home but still can’t seem to open up. When she finally finds someone to run TO, all her unresolved feelings get in her way. A lot of angst and steam, sorrow and acceptance. A good read!
