About this ebook

Opposites might attract, but what happens when one night brings a lifelong consequence?

Firefighter Evan Drake overcame a challenging childhood to build a life he loves. He’s got a rewarding career, loads of friends, and more than his share of female attention. He couldn’t ask for anything more. Then heiress Selena waltzes into his world.

Selena Jarboe grew up lacking for nothing. Money can’t buy what she aches for the most though—a stable, secure family. When family discord becomes too much, she trades her privileged existence for peace a thousand miles away. With courage, she pursues a new life—and a night with a sexy stranger.

Selena can’t regret her time with Evan…until she learns it has a major consequence. Her future uncertain, she’s sure of only one thing—Evan is the last man who could offer her security. Evan has experience fighting for what he wants, but will it be enough to win over Selena forever?

Heat of the Night is a stand-alone novel with a heartwarming and satisfying HEA in the Island Fire series.

Characters lacked depth. Story was very basic and repetitive. I wish I stopped reading after the first sex scene. ***Spoilers below*** One night stand resulted in pregnancy. She refuses to have a relationship with with him because of his dangerous job that could kill him, like it liked her father. They get close anyway. She pushes him away again. Repeat

I wanted to love this book for Evan's sake (loved him in Book 1, where he was seriously better than Derek, who was too much of a jerk for most of it regardless of his backstory). But I couldn't sympathize with Selena in this. AT ALL. I got so annoyed at all the ridiculous ways written in to make it difficult for them to get together, when all it was was Ms. Female Lead being a brat who claimed to want the best for her baby (the best for herself, really). My head hurts (as does my heart - for Evan). Couldn’t even finish reading this. I need a fanfic for Evan to recover - ONE WITHOUT SELENA HAVING EVER APPEARED. Maybe an Evan x Macey one, since Derek was pretty annoying in his book, too. Ugh.

How do people falling in love with Heros handle the Risk? The Stress of loving one who might not come home again, every day? Learning to let go and Trust is not an easy thing. But loving a daily Hero is so worth it, just as our Heroin discovered. Thank you, Amy, for a thoughtful, and thought provoking HEA!
