A cocky college drop-out.

A tattooed sinner.

Will they seize paradise or will they let it fall through their fingers?

Ash can’t believe the mess he's in. Kicked out of college, disowned by his parents and facing extended prison time for a misunderstanding over his uncle’s car.

It’s a rude awakening Ash could have done without. Locked up and far from home.

He puts his faith in the notorious Black Coyotes MC, praying they will be able to help, while those around him doubt and ridicule him for it.

Until Ash is paired up with a new cellmate and he realizes his stay may not be the torture he had previously envisioned.

Nix is a sinner. He was born a sinner, he will die a sinner. He is comfortable with knowing no one would mourn him when that day comes.

He'd run away from the religious cult that he’d been raised in, and had been a rebel without a cause since.

But he's learning he couldn’t out-run a particular need within him. The itch that never got scratched, but was begging for relief.

He kept moving, no place and no one stuck, until the law caught up with him, locked him up and forced him to stay in one place to face the truth.

Could Nix’s cocky new cellmate bring solace? Would Nix let himself fall into temptation or would he keep fighting for deliverance?

The Stay is the third book in the Black Coyotes series but takes place before book two chronologically.

Ash has been disowned, kicked out of college for a risque photo he submitted, lost almost all of his friends and now has been arrested. However, he is promised by the Black Coyote's president that he has a place with them and he will work to get him out. Nix grew up in an evangelical cult but has left that life behind. His temper lands him a cell block change, and he ends up bunking with Ash. Degreation, shame and humiliation cause him turns him on, but he has worked hard to push that part of him away until Ash. Nix tries to fight and resist Ash but can't.

The story focuses on Nix and Ash's relationship, a bit of inner prison workings, and Black Coyotes working on getting them out.

What caught my interest was the cover and the fact that the story takes place in a prison. I love prison romances. Their relationship goes from insta lust to inta love pretty fast. While Ash is pansexual, Nix has never slept with a man, so we have a sexual awakening. His religious upbringing causes him to resist his attraction and need to submit to Ash. I think this may be the author's first MM book?

On paper I should have loved this book but sadly there were elements that were missing for me. I expected the story to be a bit grittier and darker. I would have loved more of connection between the MCs as well. There was a lot of potential.

This was my favourite quote:

"You're taking my metal and you're taking my colours and you're taking my dick. Got it?"

Overall it was an okay read. I won't be reading any of the other books in the series as they are MF.

Over half of this MM, MC romance takes place in prison, I think it was an interesting setting and way for the characters to meet.
I think being in a cell together intensified the connection between Ash and Nix. Obviously it’s purely sexual first.
Ash is an open, free spirited rebel. I love his loyalty and intelligence.
Nix has had a very rough, complicated past that we only get a tiny peek at. He was a really sympathetic character, I felt for him, his pain, his demons that haunt him and his conflicted feelings about his sexuality.
I can’t wait for the next book about these characters to hopefully delve into that more.
I enjoyed the tension, the slightly forbidden aspect because they have to hide that they’re hooking up in prison.
The emotional side isn’t as strong as the physical, it’s very gritty, rough and k!nky. I loved all those aspects of their relationship. It is a shorter book and I look forward to the next book that features them and a new character.
The rebuilding of the MC is interesting and the way they live and do business is unique to MC books I’ve read. I love the MC characters and loved the cameo appearances of characters from previous books in the series. They are quirky and very entertaining.
Overall it was a fast and super hot story with intriguing characters.

I really enjoyed the writing style and both MCs were very intriguing. This is the first I have read in this series and it works well as a standalone. The experiences in jail were fairly appalling, I hope that in reality people can't be threatened while in an infirmary and the guards felt as criminal as the inmates. I just found the last part to be very abrupt and I'm struggling why Nix seems to be determined to stick to gay or straight with no other options, while Ash is perfectly happy being out as bi/pan.

If this was just the side story, I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. It was so good! The Stay is the third book in the Black Coyotes series, and takes place before The Taste (book 2) and spans the rest of book 2. I actually read this as a standalone and I had no issues. As always, it’s best to start out with book 1 to get a better grasp on what is going on with the MC. Even though this is an MC series, The Stay was centered on Nix and Ash and their time together in prison.

Spice level (1-5): 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Kink level (1-3): ⛓️ Jacob’s Ladder, jail seggs, joint master-bay-shun, butt stuff, switch

Ash has burned all his bridges with everyone. In a time of need he calls on someone who barely knows him for help. Colt, the president of the Black Coyotes MC. After agreeing to join the MC and with Colt in his corner Ash has hope. Then he gets a new cellmate. Nix is beautiful yet dangerous and Ash knows he shouldn’t let his curiosity get the best of him. When one conversation turns into them getting handsy with themselves, could this lead to more?

I would recommend The Stay to anyone who doesn’t mind mm action. If you like pseudo star crossed lovers, forced proximity, only 9ay for you, suspense, incarceration setting, badbutt karate moves, male on male action, found family, troubled MMCs, finding where you belong, an unlikely couple, finding your other half, you’ll love The Stay. This book does contain guy on guy fun times, violence, prison gang stuff, mistreatment of prisoners. For the lovers of unlikely couples this one is for you!

Warning: Reading The Stay may make you want to join a MC. May make you want to get a motorcycle. May make you want to spend some time behind bars to see who your cellmate might be. May make you sign up for karate classes. May make you try new things. Wink wink. Read responsibly.

When Ash is sent to prison, he is put into a cell with Nix. Ash and Nix take comfort in each other and begin to feel more, but will what they have last beyond the prison walls?

Starting out, I had trouble getting into this book, since I felt like the writing style was a little disjointed, but once we got into the meat of the story, when we are in the prison, the writing became much clearer.

Ash and Nix, at the beginning, were definitely not people I would have seen being together, but that changed as they got to know one another and to begin to have feelings for each other.

This book was more focused on the relationship between these two characters and the plot was a little thin. For instance the main conflict of the book, that Nix was being forced to betray Ash and the rest of the motorcycle club was ended with one sentence. So that felt a little anticlimactic after all of the distress and hurt that Nix had gone through, but the relationship between them was compelling and the growth and complexity of the characters made up for the lack of plot.

A well written romance that focuses on the relationship between the two characters and the things from their pasts they have to struggle with to be able to have a future with one another.

The majority of the book takes place in prison where Ash and Nix are cell mates. Ash seems to be a pretty astute judge of character, he reads Nix, other inmates and the guards pretty well and is a good manipulator as well as a fighter. I didn’t feel like I had as good a read on Nix all the time, he did seem to be more susceptible to pressure from other inmates, but with good reason, and Ash got him to do what he wanted, most of the time. Both MC were interesting and well developed.

The prison scenario seemed seemed true to me, with little experience or background to truly judge. The same was true with the MC club, at least based on other books of that trope/genre ( which is it) I’ve read.

I wasn’t real clear on some parts of this book, felt I was missing a backstory, especially about Nix, less so on Ash, but still something missing there, too. After checking blurbs on previous books, it seems some questions might be answer in books 1 and 2, perhaps as side characters, but without reading them I can’t be sure. It was interesting, sounds like there will be a book 4 coming. Didn’t take long to read.

Ash and Nix stole my heart. They were perfect. I alwasy eondered who they were at the end of the book of The Taste. Ash could read people and them weel just like he read Nix. Nix grew up in a religious cult that bordered on abuse. Nix was all mixed up and didn't know that he was looking, and Ash partially found what he needed in the MC. However, when Ash and Nix met, they both found home.

NIx needed someone who understood what he needed and someone who could read him and know that he was perfect with all his kinks and and hang ups. Nix needed to be with someone who would not leave, and Ash was it. Ash had found most of his home with the MC, and now he needed someone to share it with...In walks Nix. Ash found his boy, and his home was completed. Now the work begins.

I have to say that I love Colt for his fatherly advice and ways and his ability to see the person for who they are and for who they want to be. I love that he takes chances on people and encourages them to love no matter what their love may look like.

Ruby definitely has me as a forever fan!!!!!.

My first read from the Black Coyotes MC series and it read great as a standalone. I’m ready to go back and read the earlier books in the series now. This was a different read, I enjoyed the storyline, the high level angst between the characters and the dirty moments between them in the dark.

Ash and Nix are thrust together as prison cell mates. Both have had troubled upbringings, one disowned by his parents and grew up in an evangelical cult, sinners both of them. Their bond builds in the darkness of their cell.

Ash obsessively talks of how his MC is going to get them out but is there really a MC and if there is, what does the outside world hold for them, can there even be a them? First they have to survive their internment.

Really liked the cover.

Probably would have been 3.5 stars but I'm getting fed of of books just slyly adding other sexual partners for MCs especially after the MCs have been with each other. Add a warning please then I would have skipped this one.

Also not a believable HEA for me as they've agreed they will share women and Nix was fantasizing about going bareback with a chick while Ash watched. Literally envisioning them knocking up a club sweetbutt who lies about being in birth control lol.

So to sun up liked the writing and the 2 MCs but didn't buy this as a forever love. Also should be tagged as poly rather than MM.

Oh my gosh!! This book was so amazing. I read it on one sitting. Ash and Nix were both abandoned by their families, but they found each other in an unexpected place. They also found a family in an unconventional way too! Ash and Nix need and wanted each other. One was torn about who he was because of his upbringing. The other didn’t care and lives his life the way he wanted. Each one found what the other was missing in each other. It’s not your typical love story, but its their story!

Ash and Nix met in prison. Ash is a member of an MC that gets him in trouble, dragging Nix into it also. This book is filled with fights, assaults and smutty sex scenes while these guys decide they should be together. There is a lot of denial of sexual orientation and then childish tit for tats with infidelity and denied acceptance of love. Nix is aggressively immature and mentally screwed up and Ash is loyal but cruel and punishing to to Nix. Good story, not so likable main characters. I received a copy of this book through Booksprout and this is my honest opinion.

A Different Setting

This book was a little something different from what I’ve read in the past since the story takes place in prison. As the Black Coyotes MC is working to get Nix out, Nix is now joined by another man in his cell. Ash grew up in a crazy cult and has skewed idea of a lot of things including his attraction to Nix. Even if they can make it work inside what happens when they are on the outside?

Having met under strenuous circumstances, Ash and Nix form a deeper bond as they navigate the world of prison together. With undeniable chemistry between them, their relationship is something they both didn’t expect.
When faced with real life, it’s when the tension builds and the push and pull between them escalates.

A gritty MC read with bits of action, characters who have to deal with past issues and aspects of the plot which felt a bit open ended for me.
Overall, this was an okay read.

Ash is trying to right his life but seems to get caught up in trouble with every step. He ends up in a jail cell with an interesting cell mate named Nix. Nix is a sinner with no one to care for him. He was raised in a religious cult that he ran from at a young age. He and Ash have an instant attraction but will they crash and burn or take off? A good read.

I enjoyed this book. Prison romance (non syfy) is new for me and it was definitely something I wanted to pick up and see how it would play out. Cellmates Ash and Nix were very interesting well developed characters. Both have had hard pasts, and of course developing a relationship in a prison setting isn't ideal, but I liked the dynamic between them. The workings and way of life in the prison kept things interesting and tense. This was the first book I've read by this author. 4 stars.

A fiesty follow up on this MC series. Following Ash and Nix's, will they-won't they in their prison cell. Fighting their own insecurities, while losing themselves to each other.

This book is heavier on the spicy scenes than the previous two. The world building is less prominent due to the story mostly taking place in a prison cell, however the characters' depth more than makes up for it.

This was a decent story. I really liked the storyline. It was different from the other stories in the series but the same as the others with great characters. I loved Ash and Nix. They were two souls who went through hell and found each other. I liked the grittiness and the darkness of this story.

You don't think of prison as the place where you might find someone who you can connect to and can help you figure yourself out. That is what happens for Nix and Ash in this gritty story about two troubled men who find their person in the place they would least expect to have found him.

This is the fourth book I've read written by Ruby Bloom; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

This is the third book in the Black Coyotes MC Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Ash & Nix; they are cellmates after Ash gets locked up over a misunderstanding with his uncle’s car.

Great book

Nix and Ash were made for each other. Unfortunately, Nix thought that he had to push Ash away because of Ramon's gang. He just wasn't hearing or acknowledging what was going on around him. if it wasn't for a scoop of ice cream, Ash and Nix might never have come back together.

The Stay runs along the same timelines as previous books in the series. It takes us back to the first time Nix and Ash met in the most unlikely of places, prison. Forced to play into the prison dynamics, things are rocky from the start. However, the tide soon changes and things will never be the same for all involved.

The Stay is a quick and fairly fast past read. With more context than previously offered, Nix and Ash’s story is given a fuller picture. Everything about their dynamic was interesting. Just when I thought I understood it, something would happen to change it. Both have the capability of dominating and submitting to the other and it was entertaining “watching” the battle of wills.

As far as the overall story, I found that there wasn’t enough there for my liking. To elaborate would potentially spoil it but I would’ve liked for there to be more to it. Possibly going beyond the last scene and giving us more of what happens next. The Stay seems as if it’s more of an introduction to their story that is unfinished. It sadly was overall a little underwhelming for me but entertaining nevertheless.

Overall, I enjoyed getting to know more about each character and am still loving this story. I look forward to seeing what’s next for the Black Coyotes.

“This stay is going to be a lot more interesting than I had thought…”

Ash was my favorite character in The Chase and I was seriously looking forward to his and Nix’s story. The Stay started out strong. I loved the instant chemistry and the way Ash knew almost right away this man would change his life. The story progressed well until we hit around 3/4 of the way through. Suddenly the story became confusing, erratic, and rushed. Without giving away anything it’s hard to explain. All I can say is the last six chapters were underwhelming, disappointing and incomplete. There was practically zero communication between Ash and Nix and what little interaction they had went against everything we knew about them. I mean, where was the romance? The relationship we saw growing between them just seemed to disappear. Even the end was a mess that didn’t make sense, left unanswered questions and to me didn’t even qualify as a HFN.

Since I hadn’t read The Taste, which mostly occurs at the same time as the last quarter of The Stay, I thought maybe that was the reason I had been disappointed with The Stay so before I wrote this review, I went ahead and read The Taste. While I thoroughly enjoyed The Taste, and it had a great ending, it didn’t change anything about The Stay. Bottom line, Ash and Nix’s story just isn’t up to the standards of the other two books in the series. Since I still love Ash best, I’m very sad his book wasn’t what I had hoped it would be. Despite this, I still really like the series and plan to continue to read future books as they are published.

Amending review.
I just finished reading book four, The Deal, and discovered that The Stay was really more of a prequel/set up for The Deal. It gives background on Ash and Nix as well as introducing their dynamic, but the real story is in The Deal. I didn’t know this when I read The Stay and wish I had. It certainly changes my perception of the book. In all honesty, I almost wish they were together in one book although I see why they aren’t as The Stay is 100% Ash and Nix’s story and The Deal is about the two of them with Lyle and Penny. That being said, I still can’t really give The Stay more than 3 1/2 stars as I still feel the same about the final six chapters. Even The Deal didn’t change those shortcomings. Still, The Stay is necessary to really get everything from The Deal and should be read for that reason if for no other. It’s almost impossible to truly understand Ash or Nix unless you read The Stay first.
